PLEASE NOTE: THIS WORK IS NO LONGER IN PLACE ON THE TRAIL
by Ingemar Thalin located april 2002
The Swedish artist, Ingemar Thalin, from Malmo, arrived as a guest to make an installation that reflects his view of life in acorner of Britain. Bird boxes are hanging from trees containing photographs that focus on the human journey from birth to death.
A bird box is a private space where a bird will hatch her eggs. We cannot entirely grasp what happens within that intimacy. Ingemar’s boxes will not provide the whole picture but allows a glimpse into our private lives. As people we share a common humanity.
The photographs are the result of visits to local families and community groups - Heywood school, football clubs, Dilke Hospital, Awre Church. They are viewed through peepholes.
We can ponder these images and draw our own conclusions.
Look carefully - your life is part of it too…
