Rich White was commissioned in lockdown 2020 to collaborate with the public and Wye Dean Academy school to design fantasy observatories. As the country was lockdown at home, many people did not have access to nature and forests. We wanted to encourage people to visit the forest virtually, using photos and memories to build observatories to survey their favourite view points in the area.

Observatories was inspired by Bruce Allan’s 1988 Observatory sculpture which was decommissioned in 2014.
