Robin & Isla Collings, 2021

“I have been walking on the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail with my family since I was a child with my grandmother and it’s a dream come true to be given the opportunity to create a sculpture with my daughter inspired by this beautiful place”

ROBIN COLLINGS

Robin Collings and his 9 year-old daughter Isla have been awarded a joint commission with
Forest of Dean Sculpture Trust. The award comes following an open call to artists in the
South West of England supported by funding from Arts Council of England.

Robin and Isla put forward a proposal for a metal sculpture engraved with a poem written
by Isla about the Forest. Over time the sculpture will develop a coloured patina as the steel responds to the forest environment.

It is hoped the sculpture will resonate and inspire parents that have been home schooling
and making art at home with their children through the pandemic.

Isla says “I love making art about the forest and I’m so excited to be able to share my poetry with thousands of visitors. I hope this encourages other children to write their own forest poems”
